Case Study: How a Brand Rebrand Increased Artep Studio's Revenue by 60%
THE wORK
What happens when a luxury art and interiors studio finally has a brand that matches the calibre of its work? In the case of Artep Studio, the answer was a 60% increase in revenue — and a client base that finally reflected the standard the studio had always operated at.
The Client
Artep Studio is a Cape Town-based multidisciplinary art and interiors practice founded by Petra Maierhofer. Creating bespoke surfaces, art pieces and interior environments for high-end residential and hospitality projects, Artep Studio's work is defined by simplicity, premium materials and deep artisanal expertise. The studio's pieces are commissioned by interior designers, architects and private clients who understand that true luxury lives not in excess — but in the precise, considered beauty of every detail.
The Challenge
When Petra first came to White Stone Atelier, her studio was producing exceptional work — but her brand wasn't communicating that at all. The visual identity felt disconnected from the luxury positioning she had worked so hard to achieve, and the website was failing to attract the calibre of interior designers and architects she wanted to be working with. The gap between the quality of her work and the quality of her brand presence was quietly costing her the clients she deserved. This is one of the most common challenges I see in luxury interior design branding in South Africa — and it is entirely fixable.
The Process
Before a single design decision was made, I began with a deep brand strategy session — uncovering Artep Studio's core purpose, ideal client psychology, market positioning and the unique creative and commercial direction that would set the studio apart in the premium market.
From that foundation, I developed a complete visual identity system — including a bespoke brand mark, typography system, colour palette, and brand collateral suite. The brand mark was so central to the studio's identity that it was handcrafted into a brass stamp, pressed into every artwork Artep Studio produces as a seal of provenance and quality.
The scope of the project extended well beyond the identity itself. I also designed and developed a bespoke website, a luxury coffee table book printed by Orms, a corporate
presentation system, and — perhaps most significantly — the editorial design for Artep Magazine, a quarterly publication extending the brand narrative into a curated print experience.
Every element was designed to speak directly to Artep Studio's ideal client — the discerning interior designer, architect or private collector who values craft, intention and the quiet confidence of a brand that truly knows what it stands for.
The Results
The impact was immediate and measurable. In Petra's own words: "From a return on investment standpoint, the rebrand and website has improved my customer conversion rate. It has not only attracted numerous ideal clients contacting me, but it stands out from the competition and has increased my revenue by 60%." - Petra Maierhofer — Founder & Creative Director, Artep Studio
Beyond the revenue impact, the rebrand attracted the recognition that Artep Studio's work had always deserved. Petra and her studio were approached by Lexus South Africa and Decorex South Africa for exclusive creative collaborations — a testament to the authority and visibility the repositioned brand commanded in the luxury design space. Artep Studio has since been recognised in the Scape Awards of Excellence and named among Scape 100 Voices — 100 Icons, cementing Petra's position as one of South Africa's most distinctive and influential creative voices.
The Lesson
Artep Studio's story is not unique — but the outcome is a powerful reminder of something I believe deeply. When your brand finally communicates the true quality of your work, everything changes. The right clients find you. The right projects follow. And the revenue reflects the standard you have always been operating at — just without the brand to prove it.
If you are an interior designer, architect or luxury creative studio in South Africa whose brand is not yet telling the truth about the calibre of your work — this is your sign that it can, and it should.
Ready to build a brand that communicates the true quality of your work — and attracts the clients you deserve?
